The patol stool underwent a strength test. The patol stool, which is usually made of hardwood, and the newly developed patol stool HINOKI, which is made of softwood, are made with different component dimensions, so we tested both of them. Folding chairs are usually tested under Category 2 due to their structure, but since this chair is intended for use in ordinary homes, we are challenging it with Category 3 testing.
First, we conduct a static strength test on the seat.
A force of 1300N is applied 10 times for 10 seconds to check for any damage, looseness, or abnormalities. The patol stool is flexible, with each part connected by a string hinge, so when the maximum force is applied to the seat, the center is pressed down quite a bit, making a creaking sound and making me feel nervous. You can see in the video that the gaps between the string hinges are getting smaller. When the force is removed, it returns to its original shape.
After the test, there were no cracks on the seat or breakage of the string hinges, and the test was passed without any problems. The force of 1300N is
This is equivalent to 130 kg, so the test results showed that it was safe for a person weighing 130 kg to sit on it.
Next is the static strength test of the backrest. Since stools do not have backrests, this is a test to see if the structure will be distorted when force is applied from the side. A vertical force of 1300N is applied to the seat, and a horizontal force of 560N is applied 10 times for 10 seconds. Since the leg frame of the patol stool is partly fixed with magnets, if the magnets come off when a horizontal force is applied, the test ends there, so this test was more worrisome. 13 weights, each weighing 10kg, are placed on the stool and force is gradually applied from the side. After this test, no abnormalities were found, and both the patol stool and the patol stool HINOKI passed the test without a hitch.
This was the first time we had a strength test done by ourselves, but the guy from the Boken Quality Evaluation Organization who was in charge was very kind and explained things carefully, which was great. I look forward to working with you again.
